Recent studies show there's a massive black hole inside Kazimir's «Black Square»

Paintings — 2026

The Kazimir black hole was recently detected inside Kazimir’s «Black Square», known to mankind since 1915. This massive black hole is located in the center of the Malevich Galaxy, first discovered in February 23, 1879.

Inside a massive black hole, all infalling matter — including gas, dust, and stellar remnants — is compressed toward a central, unimaginably dense point known as a singularity. While direct observation is impossible, theoretical physics suggests the interior is a high-luminosity, distorted region where spacetime is warped, gravity is inescapable, and time passes differently. Modern black holes were first predicted by Albert Einstein’s 1915 Theory of General Relativity.

On the smallest scales of the Universe pairs of particles pop into existence, suddenly appearing out of the vacuum only to rapidly recombine and disappear again. They are called virtual particles and Stephen Hawking wondered what would happen if this process unfolded right on the event horizon of a black hole. If one particle crosses the event horizon then it is forever separated from its companion and can never recombine with it. The particles that are left outside the event horizon are called Hawking Radiation.

Due to quantum effects according to a model developed by Stephen Hawking in 1974, this radiation is predicted to be extremely faint and is many orders of magnitude below the current best telescopes’ detecting ability. Hawking Radiation would reduce the mass and rotational energy of black holes and consequently cause black hole evaporation. Because of this, black holes that do not gain mass through other means are expected to shrink and ultimately vanish. For all except the smallest black holes, this happens extremely slowly.
